I received phone calls and voice mails from the "Federal Magistrate’s Office" saying I have been named in connection with a federal crime. It said I need to call the number back and provide them with all the information they need so they can issue a proper warrant for my arrest. Failing to do so will be considered failure to appear in federal court. It also said there is a chance there has been a mistake, so please just call the number and provide all the information needed to clear it up. It was a computerized digital sounding voice. The incoming number on my call ID from Sussex, WI was 262-372-6942. I looked it up and there is no federal courthouse there. The number I was told to call back was from Vista, CA (by reverse phone look-up) and there is no federal courthouse there. When I attempted to look up who the numbers belonged to, both stated to report scams to the BBB, so I am. The other thing that tipped me off is that much of my family works in the law or the courts. Small claims and misdemeanors go through a local magistrate. Federal benches are held by judges or justices, not magistrates. Also, when serving someone with a subpoena to appear or provide records, it must be done via certified mail or in person. All phone communications regarding the case must refer to a filing number. This didn’t.

Was told that the Federal Magistrate was going to prosecute with no explanation what I was being prosecuted about. Press one to not be prosecuted. Press 2 to be prosecuted. I hung up without pressing anything
