Type of a scam Identity Theft
Received a call from 202 846 9057 saying they were Federal State Investigators. They have left 3 messages, and today I called them back. They said that I had been a victim of fraud and that they needed my response or they would send a federal agent to my house to arrest me.
This sounded different from the IRS scam that has been going on, so I was concerned, as they mentioned fraud, so I called them back. The man spoke with an accent, from Iraq or Pakistan?? He did not speak clearly. I stated that I wanted him to send me a certified letter with the details and he told me to do something profane (started with the letter "F").
Obviously this is not a real Federal or State organization- as they 1. would not use profane language, and 2, would have sent me multiple letters in the past.
Be careful as if they claim this is related to fraud, you might end up giving confidential information to the scammers relating to the fake fraud claim they say they are investigating!!!!!!
