Type of a scam Government Grant
Caller with a heavy accent claimed to be from US Federal Grant Department and the government is giving me loyalty grant of $8700 for good conducts and no bankruptcy filed. She asked on how I want to have the money: direct transfer to my bank account, MoneyGram at CVS or Walmart; which is nearer to me. She then needed me to do verification on my name, age, marital status and ZIP code. After which she gave me the Grant Approval ID and the callback number to her Senior Accountant for further instructions.
I did not call back the number immediately as requested, and then the same lady called again and asked me to speak to her Senior Accountant after she transferred me to his line. From the background, I knew the call wasn’t been transferred. Next, a man with another heavy accent got on the line and asked me to call the callback number provided to me immediately. I asked what is the urgency? He kept pestering me to callback immediately. So I said, thanks but no thanks and I ended the call and blocked the number.
