I saw an ad for a 2005 F-150 Lariat truck for $2000 on Facebook Marketplace. I emailed the person Sara Varner…her story was that she was in the military stationed in Omaha, Nebraska and was about to get deployed with her medical team. She said that she is selling it cheap so she can give the money to her mom, who will be watching her kids while she is overseas. She also commented on a questions I had about the truck, and stating that I would be impressed. Then I needed to pay another $1000 in insurance to cover any damages for free shipment, and the driver would reimburse me upon delivery. I had to make all these payments using Ebay gift cards, which I thought it was a scam…but her emails were so convincing…about her military and motherhood situation. I hope they catch these people, and this doesn’t happen to another hard working familly.
