Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I applied for a SECRET SHOPPER job on the Penny Saver website. I was emailed from a "Raymond Miller, PHD" at a company called EMR-Expert Market Research. After he asked basic questions, my address, work history, etc. a few days later he emailed me saying I had been approved as a "Secret Shopper" and that in the next few days I would recieve an envelope with a survey to complete for my payment. I was thinking I would do the survey turn them in then get paid around $30-$300 on average. Yesterday, I recieved the survey, as well as (3) MONEY ORDERS FROM BMO HARRIS BANK IN TEXA in the amount of $985 for a total of $2995. I am not familiar with BMO Harris bank so I called them to verify the money orders. I was told that BMO Harris Bank has been receiving multiple calls on this company regarding these money orders. When the bank looked up the money order numbers?? He said they were NOT BMO Bank money orders. On the surface, everything about this company looks legitimate including the money orders. I notice on the envelope the return address is different than the postal stamp. The return address is in California, but it was mailed from North Houston, Texas. The instructions are that they want you to deposit the money orders in your bank account, go buy the gift cards at the store selected for a lesser amount than they sent you. Then you get to keep the balance. Not sure how they scam you by giving you the money in advance and allowing you to wait until they clear, but if the money orders are NOT legit?? Then they are sending counterfet money orders per the bank!!

I received a link from a contact at LinkedIn who stated that expert Market Research was a great way to make extra money as a mystery shopper. I clicked on the link and provided my information. You had to fill out an application. I then received an email from a Raymond Miller who said I would receive further instructions. I received a text from him stating to text me when I received the package I received a letter in the mail which I’ve attached. It was not on letterhead and some grammar issues. I received a cashiers check for 2,995. The letter said I should purchase 2 gift cards from an Apple store and the rest of the money would be mine. It said to text them with further instructions after I purchased the gift cards. The assessment form was on the back of the letter
