Type of a scam Employment

I was contacted through LinkedIn messaging by someone I used to work for. It seemed odd, but I had not spoken to him in years.

The message said it was legitimate and I could make $350-500 every two weeks and increase if I did a good job.

I was asked to send my name, address, phone number, and age.

Then “James Scott” texted me asking for the same info again.

He called also and had a very heavy accent. He asked if I was married and had children. I didn’t think anything was amiss because I still thought the original message came from a former employer.

Then i got another text message asking for a picture.

I did not send one and replied that I did not see why a picture would have anything to do with employment.

Then I started thinking it could be a scam- the first message said I would be mailing payments for the postal service. The next said mystery shopping…the payment amount also kept decreasing.

I got a response to my question about the need for a phony and it said “the company don’t like delays, so you need to get started”

That seemed strange, so I asked for the company name. He said it was Excellence Shopper inc. i googled that and saw the LinkedIn scam.

He called me twice after that this morning but i didn’t answer and will block him from calling again.

When I responded originally, I did provide my name and phone number, age, and address but I gave my PO Box and not my physical address. Hopefully, it will resolve without any further incident.
