Type of a scam Phishing

my computer froze, a pop-up screen appeared on which was written "Do not click out of this screen or you will lose all data. call this (800) number for apple tech support. I called, the support person told me i had been hacked and i needed to buy a virus-cleaning protection from esoftdata, that they were affiliated with apple. Yet he asked me if i was using a mac or a windows program. "since you are a little bit suspicious" he finally said, he passed me to his supervisor. The 1st man’s name appeared in type on my screen, the same name he gave me. The superviser told me his name was Peter Gomes but a different name appeared on the list on my screen. These men kept me on the phone for almost 2 hours, trying to get me to buy their protection. Finally i gave in but their credit card page kept rejecting my card. So i told them i would call then back. Instead i did click out, losing no data, and called my bank to get a new credit card since i gave out the information numerous times unsuccessfully. esoftdata’s pitch is untrue.
