Type of a scam Tech Support
I was having issues with my computer and have Eset as my anti virus protection. I called the phone number I had to Eset but the person that answered gave a different greeting than normal and had a strong accent. The person answered "Tech support" instead of the automated selection line that the Eset number usually offers. I told the person on the line that I was having trouble with my computer and he offered his services for $250.00. I told him that I could not afford this amount and he placed me on hold saying he’d confer with his manager. When he got back on the line he offered the same service for a 1 time fee of $50. In conversation the person I was speaking to told me he was a sub-contractor for Eset and when I told him I still wanted to think about the $50 charge he said to give him a call back at 561-708-4035. This number turned out to be out of India for a company called US Global Tech. I did some research to find the real Eset number because this sounded suspicious. I called the company I purchased my computer from because they’d recommended Eset and got the real Eset # 866-343-3738. I called Eset and got the automated selection line I am used to, I told them what had happened on my first attempt to contact them. The rep was unaware this was happening.
