Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
Received a reply to a craig’s List ad. The person was interested in my product but said he did not live locally. He asked if he could send a check, and once it cleared he would have somebody who lived locally come pick up my product. The check arrived for 2 and a half times what we were asking, which he said we should give in cash to the person who picked up the product. The check did not have his name on it or indicate anything in the "For" field so we checked with our local bank, who said he was on the wrong paper with wrong fonts, etc. and was fraudulent. He recommended we shred the check so we did.
