I was scammed for a short term apartment rental ($2500.00) by someone advertising on Craig’s List under the name "Steve Parcell". I arrived to collect the keys and no one showed up; phone calls and text messages were not answered. A deadline for meeting the next morning passed – no show again.
There are multiple posts for rentals in Cambridge, Somerville, and Boston that are linked to the same person, purporting to work for Equity Housing LLC Property Management, of Boston. I’ve flagged these ads to CL twice; nothing happened. The same apartment I "rented" is still being advertised 3 days after I showed up to collect the keys. Don’t rent from this guy! And be very wary of the short term rental ads on Craig’s List as many appear to be Internet scams.
Craig’s List has totally failed to respond to my complaints and by allowing the scammer ads to stay posted, is looking mighty complicit in allowing these fraudulent activities to continue.
