Total money lost $399.99

Type of a scam Tech Support

This company installed ransomware on my elderly in-laws computer. My in-laws then called the number that appeared on the screen when their computer became frozen and was no longer working. They were then required to provide their credit card number to the ‘company’ representative Michael Smith and Anthony. They ‘sold’ them protection for 3 computers-they only have 1, and charged them $399 +.99 for the ‘software protection and license fee.’ After a long and lengthy process and discussion, my in-laws computer was ‘working again’. At which time the ‘tech’ Anthony made them promise to contact Epcheal every 30 days. The company has then proceeded to call my in-laws repeatedly (up to 10 times per day) to try to get them on the phone again. We are also filing a complaint with the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center.

I thought I was speaking with a Microsoft division as I was having problems with my email. Now, I have been charged (agreed to) $399.99 for 3 years of security, technical support, virus issues, browser ad-ware/spyware/malware; email such as outlook. (which is what I have). Microsoft says they don’t have a program like that and don’t license companies. Have email that I can cancel in 30 days if issues not resolved. Every time I try to sign into my bank account it says I am signing in from a different computer. Scared they have access to all my banking and on-line transactions.
