Total money lost $99.95
Type of a scam Online Purchase
My wife received an offer for a free sample of a beauty cream via Facebook – all she needed to do was pay for shipping and handling (about $5 bucks) .. she got the free sample and then a month later they billed her credit card $99.95. We got a call from our Bank’s (Wells Fargo) fraud section today asking if this was a legitimate charge – it was not. The Bank told us to call the vendor to get a credit and to stop future charges, which they said the vendor would charge us each month. We called the vendor and told them we did not authorize this charge and they refused to credit our account. We called Wells Fargo, protested the charge and cancelled the card. THis company is playing a scam by getting a credit card number by offering a free sample and then – hope that when a charge comes in the next month hope the credit card holder will pay the bill. Their service representative was unapologetic and would not even discuss the fact that my wife did not order anything beyond the free sample.
We are not sure yet whether or not our bank will credit our card — the company would not
we also found an address for the company in Las Vegas (6273 E Tropical Pkwy K North) and the ScamPulse.com’s web site indicated, from the email address that the company was in Utah????
The NY address comes from our credit card statement
