Type of a scam Employment
The company contacted via text message. I had applied to several position on the indeed.com website. The text message directed me to an agent to chat with on google hangouts. I have used google hangouts with past employers so really didn’t think too much of it. During this interview, I was given the company website to review. After that interview, I was directed to skype with someone to complete the second part of the interview process. Directly after introducing himself as Andrew Fields, he said "I want you to know that your check will be issued out today and i will like to confirm your information before forwarding to the Account department to avoid any mistakes in the nearest future." Tried asking questions regarding issuing a check directly after first interview and telling me days in a row that it was "mailed today". Questions I had were never answered directly or had odd answers. I asked if a company is going to issue a check without protection of that money, why would I trust that company to protect me or my information. They said, "Well I assure you everything done here is secured and protected. Your information is safe with us." I asked what measures were in place to ensure that protection. Their reply, "Everything done online over here are protected and secure. So you should have nothing to worry about."
I did not lose any money. I did not give bank account information or my SSN. I strongly believe I would have because they would have wanted to set up direct deposit. I am worried that the information they obtained will be used for identity theft.
