Elysian Construction Inc.

Type of a scam Employment

My son (who lives with me) applied for a "personal/logistics" job on Indeed.com. He was offered the position by email and accepted it by responding to the email, providing his name, address, phone number, email and age (all but the age were already provided on his resume). In the email, the employer identified himself as "Earl White" of Elysian Construction, Inc. When my son showed this to me, I was highly suspicious and instructed him to have no further communications with this person. My son then contacted Elysian Construction, who confirmed that White is not employed by them and they believed it to be a scam. Yesterday, my son received a check in the amount of $4,250, payable to him from "Red Dog Logistics, Inc." of Willowbrook, IL, via Priority Mail (USPS). The return address on the envelope is "Craigs Bookkeeping Service, 8452 Boseck Dr, Las Vegas, NV." I believe the neither Elysian nor Red Dog are involved in this scam, but were used to legitimize the scam. I believe Craigs Bookkeeping is a fake company and that the check is fake. I retained the check, the envelope and a copy of the email, and have instructed my son to keep copies of any further communications, but not to respond in any way. I also submitted a tip to the FBI.
