Total money lost $1,200
Type of a scam Online Purchase
I found the Home of Dachshund website during a search for a miniature dachshund puppy. I completed the form on the site requesting information on my suitability for puppy ownership. I “passed” their test and they requested $1200 (I had selected 2 puppies.) They wanted me to send the money through Zelle however my bank doesn’t use this service so I suggested a wire transfer which they agreed to. Once they had the money they were to schedule a delivery agent and flight. However, the rest is history – once they had the money I did not receive any further communication at which point I finally realized I had been scammed. It appears to have been a typical puppy scam. They use the Ebony brand as a “certified” brand on the About section of the site. NO location, no individuals listed or phone number. However, as part of the wire transfer I was able to get the following information:
Bank Name.. PNC
Acc #: ********** Routing# : ********* Beneficiary: **** *******

I live in South Carolina and have been on the search for Mini Long Coat Dachshunds to purchase. I found this website on a google search and came across two dogs I was interested in purchasing. Nowhere on the website does it tell potential buyers where the breeder is based out of. I had to email them to ask where they are located and that is when I was told they are in New Jersey. From there they proceeded to tell me that I could get free shipping on the dogs, if I purchased Today and provided payment and shipping preference. I then asked to Facetime or video message with them so I could see that the dogs were real and healthy and came from a good environment and they declined my request.
Just want buyers to beware and not fall for what seems like a scam targeting puppy buyers.
