Type of a scam Employment
I was contacted by Eastroadways because they said they saw my resume on a website I had posted my resume. I inquired for more details of the position and application process. I was then emailed the application link and a google documents link describing the company, position and salary. After applying I was contacted by Alexa Daniel, Human Resources. She requested a time for a phone interview. We set up a time. She called me the next day and conducted the interview that last a half hour. Upon completion of the interview she told me I passed the interview process and my next step was a background check which could take 2-3 days. The next day she called me and told me my background check passed. After that I was sent a series of emails with different links for different login portals. My position was quality control manager. The position was described as : Some US retailers do not ship Internationally and they help get packages overseas. I was told that customers would be given my address to make their purchases, the goods would be sent to me, I would take out packing slips and forward on the an Eastroadways office and they would then forward on to the customer. I was given a contract to sign, a confidentiality agreement to sign and we discussed direct deposit options or pay pay for my monthly salary. My salary was $32,500 a year plus bonuses. Bonuses were same day shipping, 100 packages shipped bonus and a birthday bonus. After some uneasy feelings I tried looking up Eastroadways team members on Facebook. Only one name matched, he listed his employer as a different company. I went to that companies website and looked at there team members. All of Eastroadways team members were listed on the other companies website as team members, with the same biographies but different names. (2 had the same names). I emailed the other company and the president confirmed that Eastroadways was using his team members biographies and names! I also googled Eastroadways physical “home office” address which did not list Eastroadways but many “freight forwarding” companies. After I discovered all of this I called “Alexa” who said she did not understand what I was saying, I repeated what I had found. She said she heard me but had never heard of what I was talking about. I asked her how do I verify your company is legit? She said she would email me Eastroadways tax ID number. She asked that I forward her the links to what I had found so she could look into it. She never emailed me. And I never forwarded her my evidence.
