I paid for a rental car from Easirent car online in Canada before I left. I paid full price and it indicated that no more money would be owing on arrival.I called to ask if they take American Express at the car counter in Florida as once I was able to use Am Ex to book but when I got there they refused but in this case I told them I needed it for Insurance and they confirmed it was OK they took it. When I arrived myself and my husband who has frontal and temporal lobe damage were taken by shuttle to a distant hotel that had a room for the car rental.
I have used my American Express gold card to cover car insurance all my life. They refused and demanded money. I spent an hour on the phone and paid roaming charges for that and data as I tried to fix the problem. I was forced to call my home insurance in Canada and pay on my home insurance for the car rental insurance or pay Easirent a couple hundred or try to take a taxi and find another rental company.My poor husband had to sit for over an hour feeling ill and just wanting to get to our destination and lie down. He has bouts of freaking out and I was worried any minute he might freak out. It was a horrible experience and we were both upset and depressed for days.This is a scam.
