Type of a scam Tech Support
This software company sent me a bogus "VIRUS ALERT" which resulted in incapacitating my computer and requested that I call an 800 number to fix my computer by allowing them to take remote control access to my computer. They charged me $299.00. I paid by personal check. Two weeks later Eagle Crest International, Inc. LLC telephoned me and wanted to refund my money telling me that they mistakenly thought that my computer had a virus. They wanted to refund my money through my checking account. I was asked to go online to my bank checking account so that they could do the transaction. I refused to go online to my bank and allow them to do the transaction. I knew then that I had been scammed. I was willing to let the $ 299.00 go rather than risk my bank account.
