Type of a scam Credit Cards
I was contacted by text message, through my business, about organizing an art studio birthday party through for 7-year old twins. He or she identified themselves as "Dr. Benjamin", and that he or she was in the hospital. They pressed me for a price quote for 4 hours and 30 kids. I came back with a quote, and he or she said that was fine, and that they wanted to proceed with credit card payment. I thought the whole thing was off, and then, they asked if I could do them a "favour" (clearly someone from the commonwealth). He or she would give me an overpayment of $1700 that I would put on my credit card, then I would pay the driver. I said I wasn’t comfortable with that, and blocked the number on my phone.
This was all done via text message. I called initially to speak to whomever this was, but it went to an answering service. I was immediately suspicious because parents want to meet anyone they are entrusting their children to. The number they used to text me was +1 (856) 318-4585. I hope this helps.
