Type of a scam Government Grant
I thought I was getting a message from a close FB friend thru the messenger and she said "hey, I applied for this grant and I got money. I asked her "is this for reals and legit and she replied with a yes. From there she sent me a link to where I can apply to see if I qualified. Amazingly, I was told that I did quality but they request that I had to pay for processing/delivery fee of $550 and form of payment they requested was with gift cards(Amazon). I told them I don’t have the money and they asked how much can you pay now? They’re response was sent us what you can and you can pay up when you get your money. So at this point I got suspicious and called my friend directly and she had no idea what I was talking about. That’s when I realized it was a scam.
Immediately, I message a report to face book- So someone got into my friend’s messenger and posing as her under a different phone number. Therefore I did inform my friend what was happening so she can take care of business on her side.
As for the gift cards, I told my niece that I just got scammed. She went to Amazon and spoke with someone and Amazon was able to redeem the funds back on the card and redeem to her account. Otherwise I would’ve lost money.
