I was approached in Walmart by a salesperson(Kyle) from Directv. As always, I told him that I already have Directv. He offered to save me approx $60 by canceling my current service which is in my husband’s name and putting the new service in my name. I was supposed to get more channels and new equipment and a $225 Walmart gift card. I paid a $35 activation fee and set up the install date. I was told not to cancel my current service until they had installed my new service. Kyle got someone on the phone who claimed to be from Directv, the man verified the service that I would be receiving and the cost of the service. He verified my credit card number and that $35 would be charged for the activation fee. I asked the man if I changed my mind, would the activation fee be refunded. He replied, "Yes, all you need to do is give us a call." A couple of days later, I called Kyle and told him that I needed to change my order from service on 3 tvs to 2 tvs. He told me just to tell the installer. He said that if he changed the order they would have to reschedule the installation. My service was to be installed on 5/31/19. I called Kyle on 5/30/19 to let him know that I needed to reschedule my installation date due to some unforeseen circumstances. I was unable to reach him or leave a voicemail due to no voicemail had been set up. I called directv directly and after a couple of hours and being transferred to several departments, I found out that there were 2 orders pending in my name but they had not been processed. I also found out that the phone number on the order was not my phone number. Directv also told me that an email should have been sent but the email address they had on file was not my email address (they had used part of my name for an email address but it was not my email address). I also found out that what the salesman offered cannot be done. The only way that a customer can cancel an account and open a new one at the same address is for the customer to wait for 60 days. After 3 days and several hours on the phone with directv, this still hasn’t been resolved. I was able to get my current account lowered. As far as the $35 activation fee, I have to dispute that with my bank. I don’t know why these scammers are allowed in Walmart to take advantage of their customers or why directv allows this to happen. Also, I have made several attempts to contact the salesman (Kyle) and I have not been able to reach him.

Similar to the music and book clubs of the 80’s, you sign up to a company that is web based only. only tech support is "select chat now at bottom of page" on their web site,,, the link or option for chat now does not exist so there is no tec support. ATT&T has no connection via ATT&T tec support or their stores to connect and speak with anyone at diretvnow.com. Once you sign up for the service their is no way to cancel when there is no way to talk to a person or most times even log onto the diretvnow support web site.

only way to ensure you can stop paying for a service that is not what is described by the sales person at ATT&T is dispute the credit card charge and block any further debit’s to directvnow.com on that credit card.
