I received a text from 1(855)811-2107 DIRECTV AT&T of a promo to save up to 50% discounts on my DirecTV bill by redeeming this Promo code: MONEYPAK that would end today (August 7,2018). The text had my DirecTV account on the text. I called this number and this Indian speaking man told me the details, which turned out to be $72/month for 24 months. The only thing was that I had to pay 6 months in advance with a paper card from the Dollar Tree, Dollar General or CVS Pharmacy which cost $5.95 to purchase.

The paper card was called GreenDotMoneyPak, but before that he told me to turn on the TV which I already had on. He informed me with this promo, I would receive all the premium channels (HBO, Showtime, etc) plus a sports package. Well low and behold, these channels were showing on my TV’s. Pretty convincing. He said to go get that GDMP card and put the $420 plus $5.95 and call the this number 1(855)638-5477 and give them the Authorization code he gave me, then after 6 months to pay the way I would usually pay. The thing that made me suspicious was the amount because 6 months of $72 was not $420, but also paying with a one time paper card with a scratch off on the back. It wasn’t a Visa/MC nor plastic like the credit cards are.

So, I called AT&T, and explained the promo. They informed me that they didn’t have any promo by that name.

So, I asked them to remove those channels which they did. I also asked them how they were able to do what they did. No answer or explantion. I called back three times to make sure that those channels were off, because they were back on 3 hrs later and I kept on getting phone calls from those numbers. The thing that irked me was that AT&T did not seem to care or try to do anything about this.

Told that I was selected to receive 50 percent discount on my bill and that my bill for next 24 months would be $100 per month which would include all channels and equipment fees if I paid $400 to Directv by Green Dot Moneypak card plus if I paid today I would receive $100 Visa card in the mail in 3 to 4 days. After purchase of cards I would need to call 855/683-5477 and give the number off the Green Dot card. Called Directv and they don’t know of this offer.

"DirecTV/AT&T" texted me with my account number along with a message saying I could receive a 50% discount on my current Internet/TV bill for the next 2 years if I pay 6 months of this new rate in advance over the phone. I came to learn more details about it upon calling the number shown in the text message. The story sounded fishy, especially when I asked him how much I was currently paying for internet, to which he had replied, "$35." My current internet bill is $80. Busted.
