Type of a scam COVID-19

I received a call. The caller stated that he was calling from AT&T with Direct TV. He said there were complaints in my area about services going out during bad weather and he was calling to see if I was having the same experience. He put me on the phone with a second man. The second man said his name was David Abraham. He then said that due to COVID they were offering a deal to existing customers to help them pay for their services. He said I could contract for 12 months of my exact existing services for $85.65 a month. He said that records show I am paying $145.55 per month presently and this month would be my last month paying this amount if I wanted the discounted contract. He said I should mail a check for $145.55 to them and in 4 working days they would have it and then I would be under the new contracted price. He said I should make the check to "Direct Upgrade." He said that due to concerns for customers I would have my own personal contact which would be him. He said that he is assigned to 320 customers. He gave me a phone number to call directly to speak with him if I have any problems down the road.

I only recently – 1 month ago – became a customer of DirectTV. Recently I got a call from some guy with a Indian accent who asked me to turn off my TV. He then said I need to send $256 to "Direct Upgrade" at PO Box 1412, Edison, New Jersey, 08818 or they wold turn off access to my DirectTV. I asked for paperwork but he said they could not provide any. He claimed I had their service for 1 year but, as noted, I have only been a DirectTV customer for 1 month. I did not comply with his request but did call BBB.
