Total money lost $12.50

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

My daughter listed herself to provide nanny services on this website. She was contacted by "Diane Johnson" who described herself as a single mom of a 7 yr old daughter who lives in Texas but was moving to Roanoke, VA. She needed a sitter. She hired my daughter. The weekend she was suppose to meet her, she text that she couldn’t leave yet. She texted from 2 different phones. She sent my daughter a check for $1980 told her $400 was hers and that she wanted her to pay for a special wheelchair with the rest. My daughter deposited it but her bank alerted her that it sounded fraudulent. The check was from a *** so we took a copy to them. It was a fake account. We called our bank and alerted them. At this point she’s out only the $12.50 return check fee. thank goodness. We called but she wouldn’t answer but text that we could talk to her "brother". We text we knew it was a fraud. She acted surprised…but eventually said we were right it is a fraud but if she would join she could make lots of money. I think *** should be alerted.
