Type of a scam Government Grant

Husband was friended on Facebook by an individual he thought he knew. It was a local man. Many months later, this individual sent him a message via messenger asking him how he was doing. He further asked if my husband heard of DHHS, and stated it was a new federal government program to assist people in poverty reduction and starting businesses. He further stated he himself was awarded $150,000 and my husband was on the winner list as well!!! My husband asked him to send the info.

He gave him the agent name as Mark Brown and a phone # told him to advise this agent a friend told him to call about the winner list.

When my husband called the # it said it was for texting. Soon a text came in asking how we can be helped.

Once they confirmed my husbands name, the text—which was poorly written, stated indeed he was a lucky winner from a random lottery for free money given by the government to help American communities.

It was asking for our full address, email, full name, Age, occupation, and monthly income.

I advised my husband this was a scam!!! I told him, I was sure they were going to ask for some money before they sent us this so called certificate!

Every time we tried calling the # provided, no one answered, but a text was sent.

Final text we sent stated: “I am uninterested, please do not contact me further. This is a scam you are being reported.”
