Type of a scam Online Purchase
While shopping on Macy’s online, I received a popup stating that if I completed a short customer survey, I would receive a free gift. I filled out the survey, ostensibly for Macy’s, which consisted of only a few questions. The "free gift" was DermaLife Skin Serum. In addition to my "free gift", I also was offered a "free sample" of DermaLife Eye Cream for only $4.95 in shipping. Nowhere on the site did it indicate I was enrolling in a subscription plan or that I would be charged anything other than the amount I paid for shipping. Two weeks later, my card was charged $179.90. Thereafter, I started receiving DermaLife products twice a month and was charged 89.95 for each ($179.90 every mo.). When I called the company I was told that they could not find my account or the customer service person would hang up on me. I managed to get the shipments briefly stopped and then they started sending them to me again. I wrote "refused" on the packages so they would be returned to the sender. After numerous calls, I finally threatened to report DermaLife to my bank’s fraud dept. They agreed to stop future shipments and said they would refund my money for the two most recent shipments. I will be surprised if they actually refund my money. Even though I wrote "refused" on the previous packages, DermaLife is refusing to refund any of the money they charged me for those shipments.I have lost hundreds and hundreds of dollars to this scam.
