Type of a scam Identity Theft
I received a call saying my identity had been stolen and i had criminal charges against me, this was from a cell phone operator which told me to press 1 if i would like to speak to someone about. They told me i had criminal charges against me but were calling because i had no criminal record and it appeared someone had stolen my identity. I asked for verification that i wasn’t being scammed and despite my better judgement i gave them my social security. Unfortunately for me i released it was a scam a few minutes too late, i then put my dad on the line to confirm and they instantly hung up. We called back and they started yelling and swearing, so I instantly put a hold on my bank account and have been trying to flag my number so they can’t take credit out in my name.
