Type of a scam Government Grant
I received messages from a Facebook friend (I believe his account was hacked) telling me I could receive Community Service Block Grant Money. He provided a link in his messages to another messenger user named David Mark. Clicking on the link sends a message to David Clark. He first asks for my name to verify I am in the database. I did not provide my name. He then says if I send money anywhere from $1,000.00 to $15,000.00 I can receive the grant money ranging from $100,000.00 to $650,000.00. My friend also said the money is sent courier (Fed Ex) in cash. Federal Grants do not send cash payments. Furthermore, my friend kept referring to it as "winnings". A cash is not winnings. Furthermore, the text had the same grammatical and spelling errors that you see from most of the scam originating out of Nigeria. Lastly, all communications stopped from both my friend and David Mark, when I asked them to send me $15,000.00 so I can receive the $650,000.00 and when I received the proceeds I would pay them back the $15,000.00 PLUS another $5,000.00. You know it’s a SCAM when they won’t put up any money.
