Type of a scam Tech Support

When I googled "Applecare phone number" this number came up and I thought I was calling Applecare. A man with an Indian accent pretended he had solutions to my computer problem, but I was concerned that he didn’t seem to know much about my model MacBook Pro. He said he could have a repairman to my house … same day!! Then he said I must have a virus and need this special virus program that costs $200 but would be mine forever. When I balked about the expense he said the repairman is usually $100 but that would be free if I bought the virus protection. I’m getting more and more skeptical. Then the last straw was that he wanted me to buy some iTunes gift cards to pay the $200 with. Bingo! That certainly sounded like what all the scammers do. So I ended the call, went to my usual computer store and they fixed my minor computer glitch in minutes AND had a good laugh about the scammer. I would probably be waiting forever for that supposed repairman and be out $200!
