Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I applied for a job as an "Office Assistant" for Cooper Engineering through UCO’s HireBronchos job board. Mr. Philip Cooper emailed me back shortly after saying the position had been filled, but I could apply for a "Personal Assistant" job that was open. I answered some job related interview questions and was told I got the position. He over-nighted me a check to start paying for his routine business expenses – placing & expediting business orders, paying his bills, etc. I deposited the check at my local bank. There was a temporary hold since it was almost $3,000. Today, on November 10th, 2016, I went to see one of my local bankers about whether or not it would be possible to finalize the clearance process. I answered all his security questions openly and honestly in a timely manner. He was very curious about my answers, went away, and did some research. He came back and told me I was a victim of fraud, to not remain in contact Mr. Philip Cooper, and to notify the police. I received a text message from Mr. Philip Cooper at around noon today asking if I heard anything back from my bank. I have not responded.
