Upon our home being listed for sale, my family has received several notifications of various scams associated with the residential address that are being perpetuated by thieves on the internet. We were notified that at least one victim lost approximately $600 but a police report has been filed in that case and the website/ad has been removed from the internet. This particular scam relates to a "company" that has provided our address as the location of their "Southern Indiana Branch" and alleges that the company is,
"able to perform all transactions relating to closing, including Purchase sales, REO sales, HUD homes, VA homes, Short sales, Reverse Mortgages, Refinances, and more. At our busiest times, we have closed more than 40 deals per day."
I was notified yesterday of the gentleman that lost $600 and I merely searched for the address to verify that there were no remaining scam websites or businesses associated with the home and came across this fraudulent company. My family is extremely concerned about the negative publicity associated with the address and any potential negative effect that it may have on the sale of the home.
