Received phone call at my business regarding a past due balance for Consumers Energy. I knew for sure we were not past due, nor had any outstanding balances. Lucas Gomez, as the scammer called himself, said he was a "supervisor" for Consumers Energy, and that he was "allowed" to assist us in not getting our power shut off. He said Consumers sent a letter one week ago, regarding the disconnection to our service. I said there is no way we have an outstanding balance, and I had confirmation numbers to prove that. He said it’s not reflecting in the system on "their" end, so I have to pay my bill, again, or get power shut off. He said "Technicians were on their way to shut our power off. To avoid shut off, we had to pay the supposed outstanding balance with a Money Pak." You have to go to Rite Aid or Walgreens and buy a money pak. Their is a $5.00 fee to get a Money Pak. Then I call them back with the Money Pak. THIS IS A SCAM THAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING ALL DAY ON 2-28-18. After swearing profusely to their absurd conversation I hung up and called the legit Consumer’s number to check my balance, which was $0.00.

So please do not give anyone your information. Hang up, and call the right Consumers Energy number to check your actual account status at 1-800-477-5050 or 1-800-805-0490.
