Type of a scam Utility

I received call on 9/26/17 in the morning. The caller said he was calling from the electricity company and was seeking payment for past due amounts. If I did not paid immediately, I was threatened that my electricity service will be disconnected. He provided specific instructions as how to pay and insisted that was the only way to make a payment. As he instructed, I went to a local store, bought and loaded money to a Green Dot Money Pak. Afterwards, call them back at 1-877-999-0098 and gave them the card information. It was after the call that a close relative alerted me that it was a scam since there was no past due on the electricity bill. The caller had access to some of my personal information which made it convincing that it was legit.
