I was contacted via email by Shelly Fitzgerald claiming she is with the Planning Committee for Colorado Women’s Leadership Summit. Shelly’s email said she found my LinkedIn profile interesting, and that "…we would enjoy your participation in the Colorado Women Leaders." I replied, stating I was interested in participating. Shelly replied with a link – http://COWomenLeaders.org – that does not work. Upon researching the URL, it does not exist. I did further investigation and found that Shelly is a real person, and she organizes conferences and summits. So the email comes across as legitimate. But I found other evidence of similar "summits" that were a scam.
