Total money lost $300

Type of a scam Home Improvement

We hired this company after requesting an estimate for tree trimming through Home Advisor’s website. A salesman named Brian Schmitz came and gave us an estimate to trim 6 trees for $1195.00 and asked for a 50% deposit. We refused stating we never pay contractors until the job is done. He then stated they won’t even schedule us unless we give them some kind of a deposit because if we cancel they have a crew sitting around not making any money when they should be at our jobsite. So we agreed on a $300.00 deposit and Brian promised not to cash the check but to hold it until we also gave them the final payment when the job was completed. And he scheduled the job for 9am Thurs Oct 6th. They didn’t do the job that day and I spoke to someone named Nick who asked if they could reschedule for October 11th at 1:00 pm. Again, they didn’t show up, or even call to reschedule or anything. So I tried calling Brian on his cell phone and low and behold the number was disconnected. Then I called the office number and spoke to someone named Jay. He said I could hire a different tree trimming company and they would give me a full refund of my deposit. Jay told me the refund would be delivered today, October 14th at 4:00 pm by Nick. And of course that didn’t happen. Yet another no call, no show. They kept our money and didn’t do the job!! I’ve heard of unsavory roofing companies doing this to people and now it looks like tree trimming companies are doing it too! Please investigate and put notice of this company ripping people off on your website so that others may be warned. I don’t want this to happen to any one else that is trusting Colorado Tree Pros! Thank you.
