Type of a scam Debt Collections
This company has call me,my husband, my elderly mother as well as my former place of employment. States that I have legal,action against me. Each call becomes a bit more threatening in nature. Second call ended with you have been warned. Today’s call I was told that my employers human resource is being contacted regarding this collection. The message gives a phone number as well as a case number. My husband was told it was for an outstanding loan from Ace check cashing. I have never had any dealings with such a business and have no knowledge of them. When I called the number and asked for their information I was told they cannot give that out. I did get a name Cohen Bach Recocery Center(CRBC) , phone # 501-209 4037– and case # 9391, I was told the amount was for $423, from this Ace check cashing. I have spoken with RI attorney general and was told to ask for certified validation of debt, I did request this, I was hung up on twice when I requested this, I was told only get certification of debt once I paid the debt, then hung up , the third person stated it would be sent. I do not owe this debt, have no knowledge of this Ace business ever had any dealings with any type of this business. Calls are harassing and I feel that they cross the line when they contact elderly as well as my employer. My attorney general stated that nothing can be done on their part to stop these scammers. If they are not stopped and have no consequences these scams will continue. I didn’t know if others are also being targeted with these bogus claims. Is there anything that I can do to make this harrrassemnt stop?
