Type of a scam Employment
The craigslist was pretty standard in that it gave you information, but it was vague, wanting you to inquire further. For example, I did not even find out the ‘business’ name until she was ready for me to ply her with personal information through a registration process.
Before that, it was very legit feeling even if it was a bit rushed, asking for a resume and then printing out, scanning and sending in a contract. It was only when she wanted me to register that I realized something was up. First thing, there is no address/contact information at the bottom of the pngage or even a link. All you have is the client’s phone number if you wish to purchase their product where if called, you get the same exact woman’s voice that was calling me about the paperwork to hire me. Second, both customers and potential hires are expected to ‘register’ and yet the link for either sends you to the same registration portal. Lastly, one of their requirements in the registration is to take a clear picture of your face with your Passport OR License so she may see the document and if that’s not a grab towards important information/identity theft, I don’t know what is.
So the last thing I do is research the site itself to prove my hunch, and discovered it is only 2 months old and registered at a location not associated with any businesses.
