I received an email that said, "$800.00 Payout – You Made The List". I did some research & it is at an address where the building appears to be vacant & is for sale.
A credible lawyers’ website said that if it was legitimate, then in the email, it would "…describe the court that has preliminarily approved the settlement.", which this email does not. And, "Many courts have online dockets that you can search to see if the notice is describing a real case…". Also, there may be news articles about the case.
Nothing like that is in this email. It just has a few highlighted spots to click on, which I did not do because I assumed that would help these scammers to hack into my computer.
