I was sent a past due bill statement that was addressed: TO GUARANTOR OF (…a portion of my maiden last name). Initially I thought this to be strange but opened the letter anyway since I recently went to my doctors visits. This bill was dated October and I was being charged for care in February. Meanwhile, I didn’t see any doctors or get any labs done in February. I called my insurance company to verify if they had denied a claim in February and they confirmed my suspicions of the fraudulent bill. The bill looks very much like a regular hospital bill and if it weren’t for the fact that I double checked with my insurance company, I would’ve ended up calling them to pay this fraud bill. Consumers, PLEASE BEWARE!
