Type of a scam Identity Theft

On the evening of 3/27/2017, I tried to use my credit card to reserve a flight for my wife. Within an hour of submitting the information, my wife and I received an email requesting that I send them a clear photocopy of the front and back of the card, in addition to a picture ID. Since I have never had this requested of me, we ignored the email.

Around 3 pm the following day, we received a second email requesting the information ASAP in order to confirm the airline reservation. We called the customer service line, and spoke with a very rude representative. She tried to explain this is a standard business practice. I found the entire situation to be quite scandalous, I hung up, and confirmed with a Service Representative from my bank that the request was indeed scandalous.

Type of a scam Online Purchase

While searching for a plane ticket on www.momondo.com, I found a good deal and clicked to purchase the ticket. The link took me to cheapticketsdeal.com where it had me fill out all information for the ticket. I received two emails from the website which asked me to call and give my credit card over the phone. The person calling had a foreign accent and I checked their website and it’s based out of India. I told them to cancel the reservation but the person claimed that it was a ‘nonrefundable cancellation’. This website is SO SHADY! I think they just wanted to record my voice giving authorization with my credit card info.
