Type of a scam Debt Collections

They keep calling. The first time I called them back the Indian sounding accented lady told me I owed a medical debt. I asked with who I owed the medical debt- she told me she couldn’t tell me until I provided her with my date of birth, and last 4 digits of my social security number. I told her I wasn’t going to do that and she could tell me who the debt was with or I could hang up because this sounded like a shady scam.

She then concocted some kind of story about how they didn’t have my most recent address… I’ve lived in the same place for the past 5 years. So I asked her if she could tell me the street or city of the address she had on file- of course she couldn’t!!!

I then proceeded to call my doctors’ offices and confirm I had no outstanding debts, and that they didn’t use Chase Receivables.

From what I understand- collection companies are more then happy to tell you who you owe money to as their goal is to collect.

Type of a scam Phishing

Call from Chase Receivables keeps coming in. They will give no information unless you "validate" who you are with birthday, SSI, etc. They will not stop calling when requested and will provide no information without getting your personal information. They will not send mail with the information either. Can not get them to stop calling — online searches suggest these are phishing attempts as well. I have checked my credit report and have no late payments.
