I was contacted today through IM from one of my FB friends. I too was given the same script about seeing my name on the CFDA list not knowing what the acronym meant I looked it up while texting and following my supposed friend to the point I called her on IM and when she didn’t pick up I became hesitant as they were trying to get me to cash app them funds. I held them off while reaching my friend on her cell. She then told me I was the third person from her contact list that they have contacted. While speaking to her I screen shot several of the texts, told the individual on the connecting side that they have been found out. and that the information will be forwarded to the correct parties as a scam. Afterwards I emailed all of my FB friends and family to let them know of this current scam that is running through our circle of known individuals.

A message came from a Facebook friend on Messenger. I hadn’t talked to them in a long time and they started asking generic questions. Then they asked me if I had heard of the CFDA and gave me a brief description. I said no and they told me that they received $50,000 and I should apply. I didn’t respond and then I got another message with the name of a claim agent and her telephone number. Her name was Rebecca Smith. I did not respond and I got several more messages getting more aggressive each time.

I received a friend request to have a current friend of mine follow me on Instagram. I didn’t think anything of it because not all of my friends on Facebook follow me on IG and the same with me and them. So I figured he ran into my profile and decided to follow me on IG in addition to FB. He sent me a message asking how I was not too long after I accepted the "Follow" request. His grammar was off and he started "inquiring" if I heard of the CFDA Grant. I said no, what is it? He continued to explain the program but his grammar and verbage was just "off" for this friend that I have seen his posts and is educated and I know can tell the difference of using "I’m" and "Am". I asked why he would think that I would qualify for this grant? And the reason why I ask is because he’s a married gay man so I figured the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance program was set up for legally lgbt community people because of the word Domestic, which I am not. He replied because it’s free money and I can use it any way I want. I asked him to message me on FB but he said no. I knew there was something fishy. I messaged my friend on FB and let the person using his exact same profile on IG that I think he’s running a scam and I messaged my REAL friend on FB and I was reporting his profile as SPAM.

I was contacted through Facebook messaging about my name being on a grant list from CFDA. When I asked what CFDA was, I was informed that it was the Community Federal Domestic Assistance. Throughout the conversation I was instructed to text an agent about my "winnings". The number given to to me was (865) 257-9224. Upon researching the group name and phone number, I noticed multiple scams in the past. The user that contacted me was a Lester Michelle Lee on Facebook.
