Type of a scam Government Grant
I was contacted by a "Margaret Thompson" on Facebook messenger, a newly added friend. She asked me if I had heard about CFA and claimed they had provided her with "$100,000". She then told me to contact "Agent Bishop Lynne" by sending "him a text message to his (276)601-3211." followed by "Write him now and let him know you are ready to apply for the program which a friend told you about and get back to me ok". I asked what the catch was, and where the money came from. The response was "It’s a program set up by the federal government to help the people and many people have been helped through this. No catch ,just text him now and get back to me. Its real and legitimate ok". I asked if there was a website or any information available for me to read up on it, and have not received a response.

This person was using Facebook Messanger to contact me, identifying themselves as Frank E. Thomas. They said due to COVID-19, there were government funds available to me. I agreed to pay $20 for FedEx to send me a package and within 12 hours it showed up on my door stating I qualified for $150,000 in grant money. In order to receive the money, I would have to send $1,000 in gift cards or wire the money to the CFA. At the same time, I was messaging this person on Facebook, I was messaging a close friend on Facebook for over two hours. The close friend said they followed all the steps the person provided and received the $150,000 in her bank account, no strings attached. I have since contacted the friend via phone and found out their Facebook was hacked. The friend did not actually receive the $150,000 in their account.
