Type of a scam Advance Fee Loan
I was contacted by CCRate employee Mark Peters yesterday afternoon. He was offering a 0% loan with an added fee to pay off a credit card debt and to lower my active interest rate by at least 50%. He repeatedly confirmed that information and lead me to believe that he was with Capital One, and never mentioned the company name he worked for. After exchanging very sensitive information, I was transferred to a second party, Michelle, who then immediately transferred me to a financial advisor named Justin Staples. He gave me a contact number of 888-907-4049 x3006. It was only then that I was informed that I had not been sharing information with capital one, but CCRate.
I am concerned that my consumer identity is exposed and would like to know if this company is legitimate. I would also like to know if there are any resources offered for insuring myself against this interaction with CCRate
