Total money lost $32,000

Type of a scam Tech Support

Approximately 1 year ago, I received an email from CBR Data Technical Support regarding possible compromise of my computer IP address. The email and business looked and sounded very legitimate. I paid a membership and everything seemed ok with no issues. I recently received an email that it was time for renewal and I decided not to renew. I called the number to renew and the scammers began their work. They took control of my computer, asked me to type the amount of my membership, and then became very agitated and said I took $20,000 instead of $200. They showed me a screen of my bank account with a $20,000 transaction in it. Then showed me a screen with $0.00 and stated they could take everything I have but they didn’t want to do that. I offered to transfer the money back but they insisted that I go withdraw the money due to tax purposes. I went and got the money, which was my money to start with. They told me someone would be in the bank watching me. I was told not to talk to anyone about what I was doing. I was then instructed to go to Target, Apple and Best Buy to purchase gift cards and told what to tell them. I did as I was told and they said to throw away the gift cards after I gave them the numbers from the cards. I was then told to go home, that everything was fine. The next morning, they showed me a screen where there was a $12,000 transaction on my bank statement and they made me do the same thing of buying gift cards. I did as told and went home. I now know that I have been scammed and they called me to taunt me about "counting my money". My computer has been wiped clean and I will NEVER fall for anything like this again.
