Type of a scam Employment

I saw that a friend had posted a link to a website where you could apply to work for an advertising agency. In where they would have a graphic artist come to your home and "wrap" your vehicle in an advertisement and i would be paid $300 a week just for driving my car around like i normally do. I had been ‘accepted’ and they gave me the contact information of the graphic artist i was supposed to pay out of the money that i was to be given extra in a check that they sent via priority mail. I was suspicious when i got the check for $1, 750… Who in their right mind would send someone else that amount of money when they hadn’t even wrapped my car yet? Well i was supposed to send the extra money to this graphic artist in Lima Ohio via western union. I found her on facebook and asked whether she was the graphic artist that was supposed to be meeting with me. She confirmed my suspicions and i advised her that i think her identity had been stolen. She thanked me for the head up. Upon receiving the check i also noticed a few inconsistencies. The return address that was marked was for a magazine company in California, the check was made out under another business name in california as a rehab facility, the payment processing center was a place in north carolina, and the original business that this was supposed to supposedly be through was a place in Wisconsin. I visited the website of cassel promotions after searching for it on google and found that they knly do local advertisements and they actually had a disclaimer about this scam on their website. I hope more people know about this before they try and cash these checks. From what I’ve read, the checks will bounce and you will end up owing the bank. If i remember correctly, the only information they got out of me when i applied for this job was my email address and phone number. I’m glad i didn’t supply them with anymore information about myself.
