In January or February 2017, I received a phone call on a weekday, sometime in the early afternoon. I usually reject and block immediately any # I do not recognize; but I had been expecting several return calls from various companies I was handling business with that day, and sometimes they call back from a different department or extension than the one you might have dialed. So I answered my phone, and a man kept saying, "Can you hear me??" and I kept asking, "What company are you calling from??". I couldn’t understand what he was saying, so I just hung up & deleted thstartI didn’t really think any more about ut uuntilthe next day, when I started hearing reports on the news, and just people in general, talking about this scam. I am very grateful that I did not unwittingly say "yes" when I answered this call. There were a few times after that (sometimes a woman; sometimes a man), who would call (when I was expecting a business call) and try to run the same scam, but I would just hang up without even saying anything, as soon as they said, "Can you hear me??"

I answered the phone from an unknown number, only because I was expecting a call (for a job offer). Otherwise, I always let it go to voicemail. I answered, said "Hello" and the other voice also said "Hello" along with something inaudible like they were trying to say something, but got cut off. After a few seconds of silence, the voice said, "Can you hear me?" I responded back by saying "Yes", thinking I was talking to a real person. After a few moments of silence I asked, "who is this?" and then I found out I was entered to win a $200 cruise sweepstakes. Immediately, I hung up the phone, but then I remembered that there was a scam going around by trying to get people to say yes. I will now register on the DO NOT CALL Registry and report the number to the FCC as well. I will be checking my bank and credit statements regularly and I am hoping nothing more will come of this.
I also remember before they said "Can you hear me?" there was a high pitched beep, like the dial tone you hear after leaving someone a message, and your voice is recorded… UGHHHHH I wish I would have realized what it might have been but it happened so fast. I didn’t really think about it since there was another inaudible sound just a few moments before. Lesson learned!

Not being aware at that particular moment of any thing I answered yes. The line went dead, so I called the number back and got choices for 1 or 2 prompt. I did not choose any and hanged up. She’s been having a lot of health issues recently so I assumed the call was legitimate. I received a call stating it was from Life Alert. The caller acted like she could not hear me at first then asked if I could hear her. I responded yes, thinking she was about to tell me something going on with my mother-in-law. She asked a second time if I could hear her, then the line went dead. I did not reveal any other personal information, financial information or address. I only answered yes to her initial question could she hear me. I have been receiving phone calls and voice mails on my cell phone from a number listed in Mableton. The number is 678-269-6835. The voice mail is always the same asking for a Wendy C. The call is supposedly from a Medical Academy. They give the call back number as 888-208-2170. When I tried to contact the 678 number to let them know they had reached a wrong number my cell phone told me that it was an invalid number. When I went to go look up the 888 number it said this was a bad number.

Was receiving numerous calls over past week, often 2 times per day. Since familiar area code, and I thought it could be a service provider I use. Often the pest or other services call me before they arrive. I did ask repeatedly – "Who is calling please…? I do not know who is calling." {I realized later, accidentally i might have said Yes (instead of Hello) with quick after thought oh no…). I heard a Thank you in background. Lots of noise and no questions, no request for me to ask speak clearer. I kept phone line open 1 minute; they hung up.

Scammer called from phone number 1-678-142-92359 saying he was from the Bray Institute. He asked "Can you hear me ", which I replied "YES". He then asked "The reason I am calling is because you have been identified as someone in the past experiencing back, shoulder or neck pain". He then asked "Are you experiencing back, shoulder or neck pain now?" Which I replied "NO". He then immediately hung up. I then realized I may have been a victim of the Can You Hear Me Now" phone call scam.

Received a call tonight 4/5/17 at 8:45 pm eastern standard time. I said hello. He said "hello". The emphasis on his hello went up at the end. Looking back, considering the time he called which was aggravating and the emphasis on his "hello"…which suggested do you hear me, I said yes. My intent was the tell the caller not to call my house at that time of the evening and to take me off their list. After I said yes, he immediately hung up.
