I received yet another voicemail message telling me: "…expired in the next 24 hours…..then under custody by the local cops…four serious allegations pressed on your name….before taking any legal action against you…" That was all I could glean from the message. When I called, it sounded like a busy call center. The woman had an Indian accent and asked me my name. She tried to verify my address, and I told her I didn’t live there anymore. I asked her to explain the allegations against me and she said, "Wrong number" and hung up.
While I knew this was a scam when I heard the voicemail message, I wanted to get more information about the organization doing this. In the last six months, I have received around 30 such messages. How to I get them to stop?
