Type of a scam Employment
I was contacted via email for a virtual assistant position where I could work 5-7 hours per week and get paid $400 a week. When I inquired more about the position, I got no response. The only time I got a response was when I was informed that I would be receiving a check for $2950 that I should deposit "immediately" and to let "shannon" (the person who reached out to me) know when it was deposited. None of this felt right. Why would I be paid for something up front? I was told that the money would be for a printer and software. Made no sense. I decided to do a bit more digging on my own, and discovered this was a scam. There was never any interview…I never applied for the job…there was no contract…no job description.
