Type of a scam Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill
Business would contact our place of business saying that someone cancelled out service that was being provided by them. The scammers would transfer between people when we would ask questions about the validity of the account in question as we had no records of any account with them. They would then contact our business again after a few weeks pushing that the service was cancelled and to pay the fee to keep the service active. We asked for documentation for the signing agreement but there was no proof provided. A fake invoice came to our business weeks later with no gst number and when looking up the company website a crude foundation was found and the business was registered as a corporation just months ago in October of 2015. The address of the company was tracked down to a UPS store to which they use the mailbox is used for that business. UPS was notified that fraudulent activity was being performed at their business with the use of their mailboxes.
